Gender Neutral Nursery

Hello Friends! Have you missed me? It has been a crazy couple of weeks here at "Casa Castro". I am super excited to announce our eldest daughter is expecting! Since she lives at home, we had to find a bigger one! After four years in this house we are ready to leave it behind, along with a lot of blood (DIY), sweat and tears. I have no kitchen! Isn't that crazy? The next couple of weeks will see my food blogging diminished as packing and moving take centre stage. Hopefully it won't be too long until my new kitchen is complete and operational.

That said, I am sooo excited for new challenges, DIY, and of course...decorating.

Gender Neutral Nursery

Dark Green Gold Black White

This is what I have purchased so far. The Ikea Hemnes dresser which I have had for four years, will be getting a tiny update.

I will be replacing the drawer pulls with green malachite and brass ones.

You were all so excited about my last blog post that I have decided to add more of my home decorating adventures to the blog. Thank you for the positive feedback and lovely comments, it means alot. The new house is full of new challenges, including very ugly wallpaper and terrible carpeting. I love a new house and this one is a diamond in the rough. It has so much potential. I can't wait to show you! Two more weeks...

So, please stay tuned for the new house tour. I want to share with you my before dilemas with after reveals.

Here's what I am working on right now:

The nursery. I am just super excited for this! My daughter and I both agreed on a gender neutral, colour scheme. She has to share the room with the baby, so it has to be pleasing and comfortable for her as well.

The inspiration came to me after finding the most amazing, dark, bottle green paint swatch.

It was perfect. The bedroom is small, so I won't be painting the entire thing dark green. Just one feature wall.

The rest of the decor will be a very calm and neutral pallette of black and white.

I will also be adding gold accents for that bit of lush glitz, without making it gender specific. At the end of the month we will hopefully know if the baby is a boy or girl. Yay! Later on I could add more gender specific touches, but I think it's refreshing to have none.

I have not yet bought that gorgeous 5 foot tall, Melissa and Doug, giraffe, but it will be mine, lol. I am so in love with it. At ₤80, I have been unable to justify buying it to my husband. Maybe I will get lucky and put it on my daughter's baby shower wish list! Wish me luck;)

I love plants in the bedroom.

The snake plant is perfect for purifying the air naturally.

The curtains pictured will be trimmed in a 3 inch, bottle green, grossgrain ribbon. I will post a tutorial on this. It is such an inexpensive, no sew, solution to dressing up a plain pair of curtains. They will just look as if they were made-to-measure, but on a more budget friendly scale. Shhhh...I won't tell;)

Fabulous!

Stay tuned. XOXOXO
